About Me
My name is Noel Thomas and I will stand for Independent Ireland in the next General Election in Galway West.
I have been a Councillor for 10 years and have been active in my community for the best part of 30 years.
I understand the issues that effect the people of Galway West because I live with these issues every day of the week and because of my experience in helping my community in the areas of planning, housing, transport, farming, enterprise, healthcare and community development.

This constituency needs a reset. Galway hasn’t had a senior representative in government for decades and we have suffered as a result. I believe that successive Governments have failed Galway West by ignoring the issues that are plain to see. The socio-economic policies that have been persued over several decades are driving people away from where they grew up and into towns and cities that are bursting at the seams. This policy has failed. Cities and towns haven’t been given the infrastructure to deal with the influx of people and the countryside is being left bereft with no facilities at all. It is my goal to change that, I want to represent our community with honesty, integrity and diligence to deliver much needed change for the people of Galway West.
Working For A Brighter Future
I fundamentally believe that the family is central to the wellbeing of all communities and that the infrastructure needs to be put in place to facilitate that. Let people build in their own communities. Let them send their kids to the local schools. Provide them with the infrastructure to build businesses. Give them the resources to develop their cultural, language, community and sporting facilities. Help them to look after their elderly parents. We need to look at rural development as a solution to overcrowded urban areas and not as a problem as it is currently.
A Team With a Vision for Real Change
The fundamental principle of Independent Ireland is about working together to deliver real change for the people of our communities. We will reset the mindset when it comes to Galway West.
We want to empower communities and people. We want to develop community facilities and enterprise. We want to increase the funding for organisations like Udarás na Gaeltachta and the Local Enterprise Offices.
We want to increase funding for TG4 and give it an independent news service. We want to fundamentally change the methodology to supply public housing in cities and communities. We want to give farmers and farm families a voice when it comes to policy.
A Voice You Can Trust On The Issues That Matter
We want to completely change immigration policy to welcome those to our country that want make a contribution to our society and not force them into units and communities that are totally unsafe and unsuitable. We want to escalate the building of the Outer Bypass and invest in the roads network of Conamara. We want to give Galway West the infrastructure to live and work with a quality of life that reflects the beauty of the city and region that we live in. The parties in Government have had decades in which to address all these issues and they have failed.
It’s time to give Independent Ireland a chance. Vote 1 for Noel Thomas for real change in Galway West.
